Position Description: 

University Sains Malaysia is the second oldest university in the country. It was established in 1969 and is one of the three research universities. It is the biggest in terms of student enrollment with about 50,000 students in 2007. Its school of medical sciences established its presence in Kelantan in June 1990, following the expansion of the health campus where the hospital is situated. 

Beginning as a unit in 1996, the Department of Neurosciences, established in 2004, is committed to develop human resources in the fields of neurosurgery, neurology and neuroscience. It initiated post graduate studies in neurosurgery and neuroscience in 1997 and 2002, respectively. In 2007, a master in neurology commenced its first intake in June. In line with the objectives of the university, the department is also geared toward research to enhance the understanding of brain pathology and develop innovative treatments.

In response to the rapid growth of the department, we are inviting highly qualified applicants from the following areas of specialization to join our team:

1) Neurorehabilitation Medicine Specialist
2) Neuroradiologist

Both positions above require scholarly activities in addition to clinical responsibilities. Successful applicants will be expected to maintain an active research profile, secure extramural funding, supervise master/doctoral students and contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate medical education.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

PROFESSOR:
Master’s and Ph.D. with M.B.B.S/BDS degree with at least 12 years of teaching experience in the field, especially at University level. Should also have demonstrated research experience and substantial publications in refereed journals at both national and international level.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:
Master’s and Ph.D. with M.B.B.S/BDS degree with at least 10 years of teaching experience as a Lecturer. Should also have demonstrated research experience and substantial publications in refereed journals at both national and international level.

LECTURER:
Master’s and Ph.D. with M.B.B.S/BDS degree with some teaching or industrial experience.

OTHER BENEFITS:

A nontaxable gratuity at the rate of 17.5 percent of the last drawn salary for every month of service will be paid on completion of contract.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE M (INCLUSIVE OF ALLOWANCES): (USD1.00 = RM3.40):
The salary level shall be determined according to the appointee’s academic qualifications,current position and professional experience.

Professor : RM130,629 - RM149,070

Associate Professor : RM78,000 - RM98,400

Lecturer : RM49,417 - RM79,608

TENURE:
Selected candidates will be appointed for three years initially and renewable for another three years if necessary.
